c5/6 disc prutrusion

Hi,

My MRI is showing c5/6 protrusion and indenting the ventral cord aspect.
Surgery is needed or not?

Thank you

Re: c5/6 disc prutrusion

Really depends on the severity of the indentation, what other blockages and impingements might be present, and your symptoms. A friend of mine has a condition that could be described the same way as yours, and he's been on "wait and see" for over a year now. On the other hand, it's possible that you need surgery already.

If you want, you could transcribe your radiologist's report to here - and add in your symptoms - and you will get a more comprehensive answer. Perhaps not a definitive answer to your specific question - which is up to the doctors, anyway - but at least enough to help you better understand and decide what steps to take.
