    Post Carpal Tunnel after ACDF?

I just had my 4 wk post-op (at 8 wks after surgery). I had an EMG a few days prior to this appt. Now NS tells me I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my left wrist. Lo and behold, this is the same side I have been experiencing all of the pain on both before and after surgery. I have pain, tingling and numbness in my neck, shoulder and down arm to fingertips. I did speak to a PT friend who told me not to let them rush into surgery on my hand, that it is more than likely coming from my neck. He said that the median nerve runs from the neck to the tips of your fingers and thumb (excluding pinky). I guess I'll wait and see. In the meantime, I have to wear a brace on my hand at nights.

before my first acdf they did test me for carpel tunnel. pain can shoot up your arm into shoulders and neck. they ruled out the carpel tunnel with me by use of emg testing. showed trashed nerve from neck.

did you have an EMG done prior to your surgery?

Yes, I did have an EMG 6 months prior to surgery. It checked out fine at the time. I had a Myelogram in Feb. which was the first time anything showed up conclusively. It revealed a herniated disk with nerves being pinched on both sides.
