    Recovery from lumbar fusion

I had L3/L4 lumbar back fusion. Some diffuse pain above right knee about 6 inches (according to dr and PT due to scar tissue that needs to be stretched and broken up). Looking for any suggestions on speeding up recovery. Easily able to walk and do stairs but still feel weakened especially the leg with the pain but that is also expected.

    Re: Recovery from lumbar fusion

Hi there. I can only suggest you follow your PT's suggestions as fusion is a delicate matter. I was drawn to your post as I am going to have lumbar L3/4 fusion. My second opinion doctor, a neuro, is suggesting a lateral spacer implementation? Called XLIF. Have you read about it? What type of surgeon and surgery did you have? I am a 54 yr. old female, healthy, but overweight. Anxious to get my active life back! Also, what type of hardware did you get? I hope you don't mind these questions...
