Question Curved spine - could exercise make it better?

    First, sorry for bad English.
I'm 18 yr old, and I'm having spine problems. My spine is curved in S shape, and a bit on a side, can't tell details cuz I didn't visit a doc for it. So I was wandering, considering that I'm still pretty much young, could regular back exercise improve it, or prevent it from continuing to lean and curve?

I do some exercise regularly and I chose not to go to doc cuz my sister had the same problem, and doc gave her something I would describe as an armour that should keep her spine straight and prevent it from further leaning. However, I don't think it helped much

What you are describing is called scoliosis. I have it too. Excersise benefits everyone, but considering that you are 18 & for the most part have stopped growing it is very unlikely that a doc would put you in a back brace. As far as exercise goes it won't correct the problem but can strenghten those back muscles. My doc years & years ago recommended swimming (best exercise) & those that most physical therapists use on their patients. If you do a search of some of the spine sites you will find instructions & diagrams of these exercises. Sorry don't remember the site I found them on as I'm at work & I saved them to my home computer, but tonight I will put the link on here to direct you to them. Cat
