    Smile Vertebral hemangioma in T1

I just had an MRI of my neck and along with it they discovered a hemangioma the size of a nickel inside my T1 vertebrae. My primary Dr said it's nothing to worry about. That's easy to say when it isn't YOUR neck!

I will be going to a spine center regarding my neck problems that were identified on the MRI, but I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this type of tumor? Can they grow? Can they cause problems? They are called benign, but I still don't like it!

    Thank you.

Hi Beckylynn, Vertebral hemangiomas grow slowly & dont spread & usually have no symptoms so require no treatment but there are rare exceptions & depending on the location, size & growth may cause pain, nerve compression or a fracture but the dr can see it on the MRI & would know if it is a possible problem.Your dr is very likely correct but the spine specialist at the spine center you mentioned could double check for you. I hope everything goes well with your back!
