    Severe Migraines 2 months+ Post-Op

I recently(Sept'14) had another operation/fusion at level C3-C4 fusion for yet another herniated disc that was causing me massive migraines at almost 24/7.
I went 2 times to my Nuero-Surgeon to discuss this.
*First time I saw the PA & she wanted to attribute it to my BP being high.
I tried to tell her that it is always elevated when I am in massive pain. But she heard nothing before in her mind.
So I the very next month I actually had a 3 month Post-op follow-up that I saw the Neuro. I actually told him what was going on & what his PA also said. I told him I know my body & how my BP works 95% or more of the time as well. He seems to blow it off as well. As in no further x-rays or even the mention of a MRI. Only to observe the x-ray the Ortho-surgeon ordered & read.

Has anyone had these symptoms with a level of C3 migraines?

I know it's not from caffeine intake due to that being reduced to very little since 3 months prior to surgery. I am basically at a level of pain & migraines pre-op. It's so painful & Imitrex injections only help for about 2 maybe 3 hours when the pain get severe enough to take.
I'm at a whits end. Any input would be greatly accepted.

Have you had a recent brain scan?

My migraines are still with me since rotator cuff surgery in 2011. I work with a neurologist as well. He had me go thru all the 'pill-help' he knew I would fail but necessary to show insurances that fact; this was followed by PT with same result -- although PT is fabulous for soooooo many people so please don't take that as a put-down on PT.... it was only on my particular case; once it could be documented how many situations 'failed' I qualified finally for Botox to numb the nerves/etc. I'll have Botox IV (every 3 months) in March and 80 to 85% of my pain is subdued. I wish you luck in finding the answer that works for you. Each of us is different. Find a Pain Specialist that will work with your Neurologist ...

    Re: Severe Migraines 2 months+ Post-Op

I am 2 weeks post op acdf level3-4 and I still feel all the same pains and have had one migraine and other headaches running up the back of my head just like before surgery. I have white spot on my MRI pre surgery and there was a question of MS that the radiologist wrote and the neurosurgeon said it wasn't anything. I hope that I am not stuck with these headaches also. Let me know if you get any answers. Sorry that you are going through this

Sorry for not getting back quicker on here. I've been swamped with things and hate to post comments on a phone.
I have an appointment with my Neurosurgeon next week & it was brought up that I could have a possible CSF leak. Which I did have a minor incident about 4 weeks post-op. But forgot about it. So I'm just wondering if there is a coalition with them.

A CSF leak can cause extremely intense headaches. This is one of the reasons they have you lay flat after procedures like spinal tap or ESI.

I know that you must lay flat & such. I researched a lot of information for my myelogram & lumbar punctures I had in the past & if you start to develop a headache or migraine to grab some caffeine & try that. But when my Imitrex shots only help around 2 hours at a time I know something is definitely wrong in "Roadiez Land"

The incident I am talking about is a leakage/bleeding at the incision site post-op about 3 weeks out.
I have been experiencing massive & cluster migraines since around 40 to 45 days post-op & have seen the Neurosurgeons office 3 times now & have yet to receive any relief that's why I asked this in the first place.
