    Arnold Chiari Malformation

I have this but it's only herniated 4 mm, but the thing is; I suffer horribly and have all of the complications of a true love you severe Chiari sufferer. I also have an arachnoid cyst behind my right ear. I don't know what to do. I can't work, and I can't drive, so working is out and I couldn't do it if I tried right now anyway. Any suggestions about this disease and/or how to obtain disability?

Please keep on fighting. Chiari Malformation can be fixed. My cousin had it and got surgery two years later (wasn't that bad apparently) and has fully recovered from her headaches. I would try to get a family physician on your side to help you navigate the various specialists and tests that might be needed to get a diagnosis.

Correction chiari cannot be fixed, there is no cure. Some people have an amazing outcome from decompression, while others do not.
However they give you the odds at it being successful for pain while you are with the neuro surgeon. None the less it does keep you out of danger of stroke, paralysis etc, so to weigh the options, it is so worth the surgery. But if the herniation is not bad and you are not in danger a lot of surgeons will not do it to help with the symptoms chiari brings us
