Father had a stroke at age 89

My father had an ischemic stroke at age 89, cannot stand due to left arm and left leg weakness, has eyesight and hearing problems. How can I keep him occupied and mentally alert?

He cannot really watch the television due to weak eyesight and can hardly hear much even with his hearing aid.
He lives in a third world country in case that makes a difference to any suggestion you might have.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I'm hoping they are doing some therapy with him?
if not, please get him started on it, they can come to the house and do home health care too through medicare.

Yes the physio come for home visits. He gets tired of sitting in the wheelchair even if it is after 20 minutes but at the same time I don't like him being in bed all day. Recovery is slow but hopefully positive. Thanks for your reply.

you're right about not wanting him in bed all day, laying in bed too much can cause pneumonia to set in his lungs. One day at a time, with therapy you will see improvements.
