When my sister got pregnant she took her ring out after she started to show. She had the ring in for probably about, 4 years or so, and after she had the baby, the hole wasn't closed. She can still fit her ring in, no repiercing. So, the hole doesn't always close.

thank you so much for replying!!! i've been wondering about that for a LONG TIME!!! all that i've ever heard is that you have to take it out and forget about it, so its nice to hear otherwise...i wanna get it pierced when i turn 18, which is not too far away, and i'm going to med school (read: no babies!!!), so i'll have plenty of time to get that hole set in there!!! thanks for the advice!

I know someone who left i in while they were pregnant and it looked absolutley revolting! The ring thing sorta popped out if you know what i mean, but it all went back to normal after she had the baby. So you don't have to take it out

Hey! Sorry it took so long for me to reply-haven't been to this board in a while. I took mine out when I first found out I was preg. I think I tried to put it back in once after I delivered with no success. I think a big part of that though is that I was soooo huge. When I got preg. I weighed 100 lbs. Weighed 164 when I had him. ARGHH!

I've heard that some people have had problems with belly button piercings even after they remove the ring. Apparently the location of the hole in the skin on the belly is dangerous for some women in the later stages of pregnancy, when the belly gets a lot bigger and pops the belly button out a bit. I'm not absolutely sure on this tho, but I think it's worth looking into. Make sure your belly button ring doesn't reject they make ugly scars!

ok. i was reading up on this the other day, in fact. the site that i was on said that if you have a naval piercing and are pregnant, you take it out when you get uncomfortable with it and not a moment later. good luck. ashley
