    Exclamation Effexor xr for anxiety?

Hi everybody I've just been prescribed EFFEXOR XR for my social anxiey disorder. I'm only 15 but it's been pretty intense for a couple of months now. I just wanted to know if any other teens here have taken it, and if so what were the side effects?

    Please respond!

I've taken it. But I took for my daily migraines, and to tell you the truth I hated it. Effexor is like the superhero of anti-depressants and for me, the first couple of months my mood was definitely better. Though a couple months later it felt like I had crashed and I became severely depressed. So depressed that I wanted to die. I don't remember any other major side effects, but I've been on so many meds it's hard to remember. I am hypersensitive to all meds, so there's a good chance that it will help with your anxiety. Good luck.

Oh yeah.. I just remembered, that the effexor made me extremely nauseous for the first few weeks of taking it. Eventually though, I become use to the drug and the nausea went away.

i took the drug when i was about 17, and it made me so jittery and irritable and just all around feel like crap, i do not believe that anti depressants help with anxiety talk to your doctor about REAL anxiety medications trust me they are out there, i went through so many anti depressants before my docotor finally prescribed me Klonopin which made me a little sleepy for the first couple of weeks but after that i felt better. The only anti depressant that really gave me any relief was Paxil. Good Luck
