    Fusing of Growth Plates/overall height

Hi, I am currently 16 years old. I don't recall ever having a growth spurt in my teen years and I've grown about a centimeter since december of 2007. Basically, I'm not growing, and I haven't been growing either. I recently visited a doctor and he took some x rays and he said I'm pretty much done growing. He said my growth plates were almost completely fused together. My question is, does this mean I have little time left to grow, or does this mean that I just won't grow that much? I'm only 5'4, and I would really like to get 3 more inches. Is that being too optimistic? I'm exercising a lot, getting plenty of rest, eating healthy, and taking vitamins. Is there a chance for me to get that growth spurt I've always wanted?

Thanks a lot for the help. And just a heads up, I don't want to take human growth hormone or anything like that. To be honest, being short isn't THAT bad and I don't want to go to that extreme. I just want to get taller if there's a way to do so normally.
