    Heat intolerance

I take Armour thyroid and have heard that. Because the T3 has such a short half life that it can cause heat intolerance....it has been pretty bad..I'm 70 and just had labs done and TSH was.26 ..6 months ago it was 2.36 ...and I always have felt good on Armour had all blood work done also to see if a thing else was amiss but all labs were fine ..so was wondering If any of you on Armour split the dose half in the morning and half at night...and does it make you feel better taking it that way

    Re: Heat intolerance

Very low to suppressed TSH is to be expected when taking an optimal dose of Armour. The 2.36 would usually be considered a sign of under-treatment.
That said, each person has their own set of "normal" labs. If .26 is truly too low for you, it could result in problems with heat tolerance.

I've been dealing with thyroid issues for a long time and have taken Armour for most of it. I've never seen anything that said T3 causes heat intolerance. I'm more inclined to think it's due to inoptimal blood levels than to T3 per se.

I've never split my dose, but there's nothing to lose in your trying that. The one caution I would offer is that if you take it too late in the day, the T3 can interfere with sound sleep. Take the first half dose upon wakening and the second no later than about 2 in the afternoon.
