Post Partial thyroidectomy question TSH levels

I had a partial thyroidectomy 14 months ago. (Due to lump which had grown, not cancer) I have my throid level monitors every 3-4 months. My T-4 and T-3 are normal and my TSH was 2.2 a month ago. My question is do I need thyroid hormones now? My PCP said if I have no symtoms not to start any now. He said my thryoid might function on its own without treatment. I had a dexa scan last year as well which was normal and my blood chem is good too. Any thoughts? Thanks
