I had the RAI treatment a little bit over a week ago, and I can not taste anything. I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if so how long did it last. I am going crazy because I can not taste anything.

I will be having RAI next week for thyroid cancer. When my Dr.'s nurse was telling me about the treatment, she mentioned that there was a chance I would lose my sense of taste for awhile. She said it could happen a week to a few weeks after the treatment and is due to temporary inflammation of the salivary glands.
So, hang in there. It's only temporary.
You might try asking your Dr. if there is anything you can do that might help with the inflammation, so you can get your sense of taste back soon.

Good luck!!

I've had a lot of radiation and it never affected my taste until the dose I had last Sept.
And I lost almost all my taste for 6 months
And some things still taste funny or have no taste.

And I have more radiation coming up again this Sept. So I'm guessing my taste will go again
