Re: Coughing after eating ice cream or hot foods?
Barb,
I'm not totally sure what to think. I have been having the lump in the throat thing, and worse than usual asthma, difficulty and painful swallowing, all at the base of my neck in the thyroid area. Itchiness too. Pollen counts are high. I'm wondering if the "normal" allergens haven't gotten everyone's immune systems into overdrive, making the symptoms of autoimmune thyroid disease worse. I know that allergies compound, I don't know why thyroid allergies would be any different. In answer to your question, you sound an awful lot like me. My allergic reactions always seize me by the throat. It starts to tingle, swell, I feel like I'm almost choking. I start coughing and can't stop. My rescue inhaler takes care of it. I haven't determined if this is asthma or an allergic reaction or both. I know that inhaling microwave popcorn fumes sets me off every time.
