If you are Iodine deficient, Kelp could help your thyroid function by giving the thyroid gland the iodine it needs to manufacture thyroid hormones.
If you are Iodine deficient, but also Selenium deficient, getting enough Iodine may cause problems, unless you supplement with Selenium, too.
If you are not iodine deficient, then kelp won't help you and could even make you go hyper, if you are not hypo, or have no effect at all if you are hypo.
As for the headaches, it could be any number of things, and the kelp might be the root of it. Kelp made my hypo symptoms worse, and headaches were on of my hypo symptoms.
