off topic question

Hi guys it has been a bad weekend.
My mom had a heart attack, hopefuuly she will be coming home in the morning. Anyway, has bad menopause symptoms and has now been taken off her prempro she was taking. The dr says no more hormones for her.
I asked him if she could try black cohosh or something like it and as usual got no answer. ( cardiologists are worse than endos).
Anybody have any ideas? Something natural she can take?
Thanks everybody!

Re: off topic question

Hope her recovery is speedy and without complications.
I would be very cautious about suggesting anything until her heart becomes stable. Even "natural" herbs and potions can have profound effects on the cardio and other systems.

Although.... (I hate even to mention this, because of what I now know) I had very good success reducing the number and severity of my hot flashes by eating 2 ounces of tofu per day for about a year - until the worst of it had passed. Soy is very bad for thyroid function, so I'm cautious about recommending it to anyone anymore. I ate it before I knew I had a thyroid problem.
If she wants to try it, she should make sure she isn't borderline hypo, and she should ask her cardiologist just to be extra sure it's ok for her heart.
