RAI scheduled

Well my RAI is scheduled for April 20 and 21st. Apparantly its a two part process. On the 20th I go in for a dose of I-123 and then the following day 2.5-3 hours of imaging and scans and they determine how much I-131 to give me. So I get to come home but have to be isolated for a full three days.

My TSh is 171 which I guess is pretty high. I feel pretty good...a little tired mid afternoon and so I just kinda relax and take about a 20 min. cat nap. I have gained some weight since the day of my surgery about 7 pounds. Thats so weird to me seeing how I am on this low iodine diet and have been eatin nothing but veggies and the occasional bowl of cream of wheat. So on the 25th I get to eat normal and start my hormones, my doc is starting me on .112mcg of Levothyroxine. The day of my RAI i will be exactly 4 weeks post surgery and hopefully on my way to a life without cancer. You all are all so great and I have learned through all of your experiences. God bless you all and thanks for listening.

Re: RAI scheduled

Southwest, I am so glad you feel good with a TSH that high. I felt pretty good the first time I went hypo but since then blah. Oh well we are living proof that each person is different and reacts differently to being hypo. My TSH is being tested today so I will know next week what it is, of course by then it will be higher, LOL Just the fact that 2 people can be so different should make Dr's sit up and take notice and stop putting the people with aparently "normal" tests through so much. I am beginning to think that the word " normal " and thyroid should not be used in the same sentance. Sounds like you are doing well on the low iodine diet that's great. Its not as hard as I thought either. It really makes me think about what garbage I was eating before though and I think I would be feeling worse if not for the diet. Well just wanted to stop by say Hi and commend you for your efforts to stay positive. Best wishes for April 21!
