Cool Basal Body Temperature range!

I have been doing my temperature for about 1 week now before I get out of bed and it is always 97.0-97.3. Does this indicate a thyroid problem? I have just started seeing a Naturopathic Doc. and she said she felt my thyroid and it felt enloarged. Now lastnight on the left side it has actually began to ache and sometimes have a sharp pain. Does this mean anything? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.

Re: Basal Body Temperature range!

According to Broda Barnes temp. check it is suppose to be between 97.8 to 98.2. Mine was 96.9, under the arm. That was after adding one degree. I felt pretty hypo then. Now it is up to 97.5 in the morning. Since my temp. has gone up, I do feel better.

If you thyroid is enlarged, surely you must have something wrong with it.

Do you seem to have problems breathing when you lay down?

Re: Basal Body Temperature range!

It's certainly possible. But if you've always had a somewhat low body temperature, BBT might not be a good indicator for you..

For me? When I was younger my mom says I always was warmer than 98.6 - now that I have a bad hypo problem, my morning temp is anywhere between 94.3 and 97.. so....

Also taking your temp for one week isn't the best gauge for your morning temp. My temp is usually "ideal" (around 97.8 in the AM) a week or two before my period, and I feel pretty good! The day my period starts it drops down very low and I feel pretty crummy.. Keep records of it for a month or two - you'll start to see a pattern. I've been taking my temp since December 1, and the pattern is kinda neat to see.
