| Palmar Erythemia
This is a red swelling of palms of the hands. It can be from thyrotoxicosis, estrogen dominance, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, liver disorders.etc.
I have this on one side of my hand, below the pinky finger. It is red swollen, and has little darker red dots in it.
Does anyone else have this?

I have it too...same side as you...from the pinky finger to the wrist on both hands. No endo has ever been able to explain it to me, and believe me, I've asked! LOL It came with the Graves but has never gone away.

My daughter has palmar erythema. She's almost 2 but there has been no explanation as to why she has it. I noticed it when she was 6 months old but thought it was due to crawling on the floor. Nope, she still has it.
She is also failure to thrive, has "asthma" (not sure how I feel about this diagnosis), chronic diarrhea and some abnormal labs. The pediatrician is currently reviewing her lab work and symptoms and will be getting back with me (he doesn't seem too concerned; feels the asthma is causing her poor growth).
I asked him about her "red hands" and he said he has no idea why they're like that. Since they go purple sometimes he mentioned raynaud's.
I have red palms when I flare up (I get the darker dots too) and my finger tips get red circular patches on them (with normal colored centers).
I have low thyroid function though so I don't know why my hands do this.
Love and Prayers, Kelly

Low thyroid can cause failure to thrive...have they checked your daughters free T4 and free T3?

I asked my doctor about this and he said it looked like some kind of vascular change. I was thinking it is from fluid retention
He was more interested in seeing his other patients and it was not pursued any farther. |

I get something like this, but only on the soles of my feet. It's like a red swelling, with heat. Somewhat uncomfortable, but not that painful. Does anyone know anything about this on your foot? I am hypo. by the way. |
