Slow Digestion?????

This is gross but here goes...Saturday was MIL's birthday. There was a beautiful cake with navy blue and green icing. On Sunday, my son comes to tell me that is BM was green in the potty. I laughed it off because I knew the food coloring in the icing had caused this to happen. On Monday, his twin sister came to tell me the same thing. Well here it is Wednesday and the same thing happened to me. FOUR days later after eating the cake. My question is does anyone else suffer from slow digestion? Is this normal with hypos?? I've been on levothyroxine for a month and I'm feeling much better but not 100%. I've not gained anymore weight. But haven't lost any either.
Over the past couple of days, my eye twitching has returned and the pitting edema is only slightly better. If I don't take a diuretic everyday, I swell up like a balloon. I go for 6 week labs soon. I just need to know if the digestion thing is something I need to speak with doc about.

Thanks in advance,

Re: Slow Digestion?????

Yes!!! I swear I thought my digestive tract had almost completely shut down when I was really sick. I had trouble eating as it seemed like my last meal was always still sitting at the bottom of my esophagus. It did get better and I tried to eat foods that were easier to digest to get me through the rough parts. Also, papaya supplements at meal time aids food digestion.

Hang in there!

Re: Slow Digestion?????

Yes your digestion and that WHOLE area gets screwed up and slooooooooows way down when hypo.

I never ever had a problem in that respect until this thyroid crap. I take a very mild laxative twice a week to help keep me cleaned out good. I kinda worry about my colon so I help my system out a little. I do a colon cleanse about every two months.
