AFter Thyroidectomy

1 year after the surgery, my friend is having trouble absorbing the T3. She was switched to Armour with still about the same effect. She then had it compunded into a liquid and had better results. Now it seems all of the symptoms are coming back, chronic fatigue, hives, loss of hair, weight gain, low sex drive. It has been suggested that she try compounding into rice paper and absorbed sublingually.

We are reaching our wits end. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: AFter Thyroidectomy

Hi - a couple of questions:

Has she had her levels checked lately? Perhaps it's time for an increase. If she has them, please post the test results with ranges.

Has she looked into adrenal fatigue? Lack of cortisol could be causing lack of T3 absorption.

Is she taking T4 with T3 or just T3?

There are some very knowledgeable people here - hopefully someone will be able to give good advice.
