    Thyroid Nodules

Hi, I went for an MRI for my neck because of constant neck problems. A mass was found on right lobe of my thyroid. I've since had an ultrasound done, which led to a fine needle aspiration.

The results are confusing to me and obviously to my family physician because she has sent me to a thyroid specialist who I will be seeing tomorrow.

I wasn't experiencing any symptoms that concerned me until after I had my FNI. Now I'm having panic attacks, rapid heartbeat, heartburn, fainting spells, insomnia etc.

Could the FNI have interfered with my thyroid in some way? I don't know what questions to ask the specialist tomorrow.

By the way the results of the FNI stated that the cytological findings are consistent with cyst content, that the fine needle aspirate contains relatively numerous hemosiderin-laden macrophages. Rt thyroid 4.9x1.4x1.3cm, 2 echopoor nodules seen, largest - lower pole complex cyst has solid nodule along wall 1.7x1.2x1.1 cm. Lt thyroid, couple small cysts, Isthmus NAD Rt thyroid

I can't make sense of that. Maybe someone out there can.

I'm very worried about the rapid heartbeat and panic attacks.

By the way, my thyroid levels were normal when I had my blood work done.

    Please help!!!!!

You probably have something called "multinodular goiter" which is a lumpy bumpy thyroid (not cancerous), and maybe you have thyroid disease, and the FNA---the trauma of being poked. kind of pushed out extra hormone, or witheld some, exacerbating your symptoms?
