Oprah Says She "Blew out her thyroid"

On her show today Oprah said she blew out her thyroid. I never heard this expression before. She attributed blow out to hectic schedule, not enough sleep etc. Now she says her thyroid is balanced and she didn't completely destroy it. I am puzzled by the blew out thyroid comment. And, her guest MD had nothing to say about this at least as far as I can recall. And then the show just went on and on about menopause and hardly anything more on thyroid. To me the take away was , if you don't take good care of yourself you could blow out your thyroid.

I really hope she does another show on thyroid issues and clears up the impression she left with this show!

I think Oprah does a lot of wonderful things for a lot of people, but she obviously got this one wrong. Maybe her staff should do a little more research before they just [email protected]$$ a topic as serious and prevalent as this.
