    thyroid antibodies keep rising.

Every month my rummie does a series of blood tests to be sure the meds i am on do not ruin my liver. One of the tests is for thyroid antibiodies. I know what they are and all however since being placed on synthroid, the antibodies keep going up and up in number. Isnt the goal of the synthroid to replace my thyroid hormone levels and to lower my antibodies? I have a single nodule that I can feel has gotten bigger. Since he doubled my synthroid I feel more hyper than hypo and today it was so bad I coulod not even get out of bed to make it into work. Anyone with similiar circumstances, please let me know how you handled it

You are partially correct. The goal of the Synthroid is to replace your thyroid hormones, to bring you back to hormone levels that are appropriate for your body, but they are definitely not being administered to lower your antibodies. Synthroid and all other thyroid replacement hormones do not lower your antibodies. Only your own immune system will do that.

A single nodule is something to follow up on. Especially one that is rapidly growing. You should be doing more than just lab work with your rheumatologist one a month.

Doubling your Synthroid dose will certainly make you feel more hypER than hypO. Did he just double the dose overnight? Does your doctor REALLY know what he's doing? Because no doctor that I've talked to would ever do that. Maybe your post didn't have all the details...I hope that's all it is.

My opinion, and it's just that - an opinion - is that you need a different doctor and you need more tests to check out that single nodule.
