Exclamation BAD reactions to Nature-Throid. Anyone else?

I thought I was fine. I go for a routine. Doc says "hypothyroidism," puts me on Nature-Throid, one pill/65mg/day. I've NEVER FELT WORSE. It's been three weeks, and I don't even know this me. I'm a zombie. Can't eat, get out of bed, except for diarrhea. Can't think straight, make a phone call. I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS WAY.

Is there some kind of breaking-in period she didn't mention, or what? I can't move. I'm a zombie. My levels are T4 1.22, T3 2.9, TSH 1.279. Are they low, or is she off? As far as I know, I had NO SYMPTOMS. IT WAS A ROUTINE....

Would you mind posting the ranges for your Ts? I'm assuming they're FreeTs. Its kinda difficult to read the T's without having the range posted, since different labs use different equipment.

I'm surprised she didn't start you at a really low dose to see if your body can handle it. You got quite a shock to your system. Have you called her? My doc just wrote an rx for Nature-Thyroid and started me on 1/2 grain (32.4mg).

There are a couple of other things that could affect your tolerance. How's your ferritin, vitD, and B-vit levels? Have you been dx'd or investigated for adrenal fatigue? Are you sensitive to any foods?

I'd stop taking it for a few days and then cut the pills in half. It does take a while for the body to get use to thyroid meds. I am surprised the doc started you out at that amount.

I should have have mentioned the same thing happened to me. He gave me the same dose and I felt like crap. I waited a few days and started taking half a dose. I felt better. Now I take 3/4 of the pill because they only make 1/2 grain and 1 grain. So 3/4 grains seems to be the dose I need.

Just thought I'd share they do make "Nature-Throid" in 1/4 grain (16.25mg) tabs. I have them sitting right here.

    Thanks, M.M.
Thanks, all. Like, duh, couldn't the doc have said, "Let's start on the lowest dose, see how you're doing and move up?" I so appreciate your input.
