I just got my results from previos yrs, hypo since 1990 on synthroid for 14 yrs, then april 2004 tsh 0.01, told to stop synthroid

t3 274 (60-181) t3 259 (60-181)
ft4 2.0(0.8-1.8) ft4 1.8 (0.8-1.8)

july,aug,sept just kept hanging lol

tsh w reflex to ft4 <0.01 (0.40-5.50)
t3 total 390 (60-181)
ft4 2.9 (0.8-1.8)
alk phos 134 (20-125)
looks like they kept me hanging on propanolol oct, nov, dec, jan,
RAI in JAnuary. so the question is what were other options instead of RAI, I wasn't referred to an endo until after RAI either. Looks like I never had test for antibodies throughout any of this. Recent test for tpo ab negative.
thanks for your help, kathy

Re: looking back after RAI were there other options

Your labs are hyperT ot hypoT. There is always an option. You can refuse and try anti-thyroid meds. If this doesn't work you can refuse the RAI and opt for surgical removal instead.

I haven't heard many good one shot and done stories about RAI. My Aunt had 2 RAI's before they consented to her request for removal. They just couldn't kill it. Two years of torture was enough. You may be looking at needing the same thing done. Surgery.

If we learn by our mistakes, I am working on one hell of an education.
