    Thyroid and Heart skipping?

Hi--I am just at wit's end. I am a 39 yr old female with skyhigh thyroid antibodies but tsh and t's are just in the normal range (1 point in). The drs say I am swinging between hypo and hyper and have 2 nodules. Ok I am skipping heartbeats like crazy. It is mainly right before my cycle, when I am ovulating, and when I change position (especially rolling to my left side) I have had sooo many tests. Cardiologist said I needed ablation and did that but would not skip on the table so they couldnt map it and do it. (I had 300 documented episodes with a 30 day event monitor but wouldnt do it for 3 hours on the operating table-- go figure) Dr says I have the heart of a 10 year old kid. Slight mitral valve prolapse. I am taking toprol which helps a bit and am working with a trainer and eating right. Taking multi vitamin and magnesium (but mag makes my eye lid twitch?) It also seems to get worse when I have gerd or am gassy. Any suggestions? What is the apple cider dose? I will try anything.... This is literally ruining my life. I need help in the worst way. Thanks in advance for the imput. Also-- the cardio dr has said whatever is causing the heart episodes -- it is not cardiac in nature. So back to the endo dr and square one once again...

    Re: Thyroid and Heart skipping?

What are your exact TSH, Ft3, and Ft4 levels and ranges?

You may need a new MD. I had what you described and the only thing that calmed things down was finding my adrenal insufficiency and treating my secondary hypothyroidism. My BP and heart rate drop to normal levels and stayed there with just a 50 mcg dosing of synthroid. Things got even better with the addition of 20 mg of hydrocortisone a day as well.

getting new labs done this week and another ultrasound to see if nodules are getting bigger... have you heard of heart skipping with thyroid problems? It seems to center around my menstrual cycles and position changes as well. BP is always normal although I have had a few major spikes...

By "skipping", do you mean PVCs (premature ventricular contractions)? I had them constantly before I was diagnosed hypoT and optimally treated. I haven't had one in at least 1 1/2 years, I'd say. They are very common to hypoT... Don't let any MD tell you they aren't.

    Re: Thyroid and Heart skipping?

My electrophysiology cardiologist origionally thought POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). This is actually linked to thyroid.. Hashimoto's in particular. You do a tilt table test.. about $3000 dollar test and they spike you with nitroglycerin and do adrenal testing in different stress situations.. to confirm and refute it. I turned out to have all the classic symptoms, but not have POTS.. instead it was all thyroid autoimmune triggered. My antibodies are also attacking my Milan nerve coating in my brain. So yes a thyroid condition can effect the heart and cause an irregular heart beat or other issues.
