    It means your thyroid has trouble working - that's why TSH pushes it harder to make it produce more hormones. Having FT4 in ranges doesn't mean that particular level is normal for You - TSH above ranges is normal for no one. Are you having any symptoms? What were the excact FT4 and TSH levels and ranges for them?

    Lab tests don't mean much unless you don't feel well and tests results are way out of range, meaning too high or too low . You should request to have your Free T3 level checked. If your Free T3 level is really low compared to your Free T4, have your doctor switch you to natural thyroid hormones which contains both T3/T4 (T1 & T2 as well). Don't take thyroid hormones before getting tests done as it will alter the results giving you false high readings.
