I think everyone is different recovering from surgery. I am 7 weeks post tt. I had trouble with fatigue and weakness after surgery but was feeling better after 4 weeks. My doctor is still adjusting my dosage of levothyroxine and i understand this process takes time. Hang in there!!!!

For me, the pain from the surgery only last a 3-4 days. I still had stiffness in my neck for about 2 weeks post-surgery. My medicine has only been adjusted twice since the surgery 10 months ago. Don't worry about falling into a certain timeframe. It's different for everyone.

I agree with the other posters...it seems everyone has different experiences when I comes to recovery. I had a PT and my recovery was fairly easy. I just had to remember not to over do early on. I went back to work after two weeks.

It does take awhile for the that area to fully heal. The area felt tight and sometimes swollen for quite awhile after surgery. Even occasionally now my throat area will feel tight.

It has been a slow process getting my medication right. I am hoping that I am close and will not need another adjustment. I have had blood drawn every 6 to 8 weeks for quite awhile. I am almost one year post-op...my surgery May 8, 2008.

Is there a specific question regarding post-op recovery we can help with? Sometimes it is easier to offer support if we know specifically what concerns one has with thyoid surgery/recovery....
