Questions about RT3

If your rt3 is high will it cause anxiety? what about head pressure, blurry vision and high heart rate? My doctor added t3 to my Erfa and I thought my head was going to blow up. Also, what do Endocrinologists do when you have high rt3? The Wilson's syndrome seems to be practiced only by Natural medicine docs.

Re: Questions about RT3

Hey Sandie, sorry you're still having horrible symptoms .

High RT3 will essentially keep you hypo because it binds with the thyroid hormone receptors and won't allow T3 into the cells. I'm not sure if your symptoms mean you're more hypo or hyper... have you taken your temps to see what they look like? They should be higher if you're hyper, low if you're hypo, and will fluctuate during the day if you have adrenal fatigue (take them three times a day and average them out. If they are fluctuating more than .1-.2 degrees F from day to day then you've got AF) . Treating RT3 won't work if you've got ongoing AF. Also to treat RT3 you need to discontinue the Erfa because the T4 in it will only add to the RT3.

Even though Wilson put his name on T3 therapy for high RT3, many don't follow his protocol and prefer to call it high Rt3 syndrome or thyroid hormone resistance. Wilson uses a slow release T3 as well as other protocols that many have found don't work as well as just going on T3 until the RT3 clears, then transitioning back over to NTH. Most Endos won't acknowledge RT3 issues so you'll have to find an alternative doc if you do have it and need to treat it.
