    Levoxyl versus Synthoid users

I have been on Synthoid for 7 weeks now, in the past I had a medical condition which caused my metabolism to go haywire so I was taking 137 mg of Levoxyl and now I'm on 75 mg of Synthoid..(since seeing a new doctor). I was treated years ago with HyperThyrd. Anyone notice any differnce between the two meds?

For some reason, I seem to feel better on the synthroid name brand, could be a coincidence though, everyone is different. It's also good for consistency, because pharmacies sometimes change their brands.

I've taken both and don't notice a different. With Synthroid .137 my TSH will be a tad bit lower than it will be on Levoxyl .137. I ended up with Levoxyl because I am allergic to povidone, which is an additive in Synthroid. It is a very small amount in the Synthroid and doesn't really give me a problem, but in larger tablets like Motrin or Tylenol it does. I just figured I needed to avoid any of it.

I was diagnosed hashi's/hypoT in the beginning of march and I have ONLY taken name brand Synthroid... So I wouldn't know if there is a difference or not! I do have a neighbor who is hashi's/hypoT and she was on the generic and is now taking name brand and she says she feels much better now.. So I really think that everyone is different. Some ppl are extremely sensitive to subtle changes in meds and others are not... I would say give them both a try and if you feel the same on both of them, "save yourself the money and go for the generic"

Levoxyl is not generic thyroid medication. It is another brand name. So is Levothroid, Unithroid, etc.
