Help -Solid nodule w/Calcification on my Thyroid.

Sorry, but, I don't know much about nodules. I've had them....some resolved and I've had new ones appear. I've also had FNA and the nodule was like most - benign.

I will think good thoughts that your nodule is also like most.

We do have a couple of nodule experts on here.....I'm sure they'll post when they stop by for a visit.

Try not to be too scared. Most of these are benign. Every symptom you will type in with "nodule" on the internet will lead to cancer, so you will go to the doctor and check it out.

You need an fna, and a good surgeon to talk to, and then you take it one step at a time from there. In other parts of the body, other tumors, a "calcification" is a red flag for cancer, it's not as definitive for thyroid nodules, because most are benign.

Also, keep in mind, your worst case scenario, thyroid cancer, which is rare, is curable and easily treatable, it's not like other cancers, so try to focus on other things, and not to worry too much.

Thanks.. you are right... I know I'm being a little over scared.. lol... my sister had calcification on cells in her breast (found last Oct). and had a double mastectomy last Nov… My turn?? ... it's just a little over whelming... But you are correct,, of all the cancers that are out there.. If it does turn out to be that.. I know it’s treatable… with Super great results….

Calcification is a good indicator of a tumor instead of healthy tissue, but without any other indicators it is not a good indicator of thyroid cancer.

What other indicators? or will I know that once they do the FNA?
