    Parathyroidectomy

I am having surgery in 2 weeks. PTH is high normal and calcium is 11.5. I have been tired all the time,Have trouble sleeping and bone pain in my legs. After 3 years, I am finally having surgery. Why does it take so long to diagnose and treat?

Happy for you to finally get your surgery. Yes, seems like they could figure it all out sooner.

    Re: Parathyroidectomy

After reading post-op stories, I am wondering whether surgery is worth it?

fish - Just wondering how your surgery went?

I had parathyhroid surgery about three years ago and had very good results. I had 3-1/2 of my parathyroid glands removed (parathyroid hyperplasia). I didn't feel better immediately after the surgery, but did within a couple months. And now I don't have to worry about my bones losing all that calcium!

You won't see many postings on parathyroid problems on this section, because it deals with thyroid. There are a few postings over under Endocrine Disorders.

Surgery went well. They removed 2 parathyroids and I feel pretty good at 11 days post-op.
