    "Funny" lab results

    Hello
I've recently had lab work done( testosterone, thyroid, blood counts) due to fatigue and ED that I've been experiencing. My primary care physician said that all of my results were normal and suggested it was psychological but recommended that I was checked by an endocrinologist to be sure.

The endo looked over my results and also said the labs were normal but also said that while the thyroid results were in the normal range, they seemed "Funny" and wanted to retest with additional lab work.

    My thyroid results are:

    THS: 1.52uIU/mL (ref 0.45-4.5)
    T4: 5.6ug/dl (ref 4.5-12.0)
    T3 uptake: 28% (ref 24-39)
Free thyroxine index: 1.5 (ref 1.2-5.0)

Why would the doctor say the above results look "funny". If they are within the normal range?

Hello Your TSH looks perfectly normal but maybe your doc spotted those lower in the range T4 and T3 results - which BTW are results of outdated inaccurate tests but could very well point towards hypoT. Hope you have your freeT4 (direct, not calculated) and freeT3 as well as thyroid antibodies (TPO and/or Tg Ab) tested to get a better picture.
