TMJ Diagnosis - I am confused as pain is on upper molar

I just wanted to know if anyone else gets tooth pain (flinches) which is just on one upper molar and occasional mirrored pain on bottom tooth. This has been going on now for 18 months +/- The pain was at the beginning excruciating but is not now, just uncomforable. The tooth is tender to the touch and I have had a root canal filling on it (before the diagnosis) so there shouldnt be any nerves in it. Is it possible that if this is the symptom that this is TMJ? I have also realised today that I have a large swollen muscle, nodule(or is it a lymph node) on the same LHS under the ear on the jaw bone . IT can be palpated and is not painful.. I just would like some reassurances that this is all down to TMJ as I not yet really convinced. IT is true that at the time it started I was under a huge amount of strain (death of ex husband and worsening Alzheimers of my mother) however my mother has now died and time has moved on so I don't have any stress now. I have even retired now so life is really good apart from this ongoing TMJ? problem. I would be really interested to hear other peoples opinions please

I too sometimes get pain in my molars, at first I was convinced I needed dental work, but then when I got X-rays nothing was wrong with my teeth. So I assume that it's the tmj That's been making my molars hurt. I've read that tmj can cause toothaches. So it possible that's what's causing yours.
