    Idiopathic condylar resorption

Can anyone tell me their experience if you have had this condition called idiopathic condylar resorption? I been trying to find out in past posts about why my jaw has misaligned after episodes of clenching teeth at night. I'm suspecting thats what caused my lower jaw to recede as my tmj's has been pressured by clenching.

I saw an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and he said I likely have this condition but he is GUESSING, so if anyone has been diagnosed, can you tell me what type of tests you did? and what are the treatment options? Any cure?

    Re: Idiopathic condylar resorption

I recently got some scans and xrays done that showed that both my condyles (jaw joints) were very eroded. Condylar resorption basically.
From what I've researched online, there is no one cure for it. The most documented treatment is Orthognathic jaw surgery, which seems to have a fairly high success rate. Surgery is only recommended if other conservative treatments fail though.

I'm currently undertaking treatment with a neuromuscular dentist to see if I can get cured or at least get better. I'll be given a fixed orthotic to wear for some months to reposition the bite and stop the bones from deteriorating further.

I'd be interested to hear anyone elses thoughts on this who has this condition.
