    lower jaw sliding backward?

Hey all, hope this is OK to post.

Has anyone faced their lower jaw sliding backward? Any personal experiences with how to prevent this?

(not seeking professional answers, just experiences)

Hi. I havent personally had this, but my daughter did...we wound up in an oral sugeons office where TMJ was diagnosed. She had surgery, which was 6 weeks of having her jaw wired...but in the end, it not only took care of it but also made a huge difference in how she looked. She has a beautiful profile now and no longer has any issues with chewing or popping.

Have you seen an oral surgeon?

Oh wow, thanks so much for sharing this! That is so wonderful to hear!

I have TMJ and it's been changing my profile too, plus it's difficult to chew and swallow normally. The splints my dentist gave seemed to make things worse (or maybe they weren't the right ones...) I have bilateral disc derangements. May I ask what surgery your daughter had? Was it a TMJ surgery or jaw surgery?

I just met with a renowned oral surgeon who has also looked at my TMJ joints and he has offered surgery on my case in a few months
