Mom has severe tmj and fibro, trying to understand and get suggestions
I don’t know where to start so wanted to post here and see if anyone knows what my mom is going through and how to help.
She’s always had tmj and had a mouth splint. Recently had 2 root canals and afterwords she chewed in one side of her mouth and she was told by a physical therapist that this caused her tmj to get really bad. She is 60 and has fibromyalgia and lives in a cold climate but otherwise healthy.
I am worried because it has been three months now and she is getting worse. She can barely talk, only eats smoothies and is getting very depressed. She gets massage and physical therapy and is looking for a tmj specialist.
I live far from her and she doesn’t want to talk in the phone anymore so we just text but she is just laying in bed most of the day.
What can she do? Is it going to get better? I’m very worried
