Post Odd Number of Teeth

i just discovered today that i only have 13 teeth on the bottom, so the top and the bottom don't match up. could this possibly be the cause of TMJ? thanks

Hi Lily:
Anything that throws your bite off can contribute to TMJ so yes this could be a contributing factor.

lily21 - I also have only 13 teeth on the bottom. My dentist and orthodontist told me it was not a big deal. I don't have TMJ, but I did have an overbite requiring braces.

I have 12 teeth on top, and 12 teeth on the bottom. I was concerned because there is a commercial on t.v. that states that there are 32 teeth in the normal mouth. If this is true where did all my teeth go?????

there are 28 teeth in a normal mouth, not counting the 4 wisdom teeth, i don't think everyone gets them any way. i guess if you didn't loose your teeth, they just never grew, like mine. some people have small jaws and there's no room for all the teeth to grow
