    Finally got mouthguard......

................and I have to say its the most uncomfortable device I have ever had to endure. Is this normal? I used it for the 1st time last night and got very little sleep due to the discomfort. My top teeth feel weird today. When I wear it its like someone is twisting my teeth a little if you can understand what I mean?

Does it get better? Also has anyone had any success with the pains associated with TMJ after using the guard for a prolonged period of time?

    Thanks in advance.

I have no proublems with my 24/7 splint it feels really good. The thing is you need to go to someone who knows what there doing. Your teeth may hurt for the first couple of days. my didn't

Things are a lot better now I am getting used to it. I dont feel any discomfort at all at night other than more spit in my mouth for some reason lol. My teeth are also much better.

I was wondering one thing though. I am wearing the mouthguard to stop me from grinding my teeth at night but im curious to know if this will help get rid of the pains associated with TMJ? If after a while of wearing it and it appears to be inefective what is the next logical step to take?

If your splint does not help with the grinding or help to alleviate some of your pain then the splint is probably not fitted correctly. Make sure you go back for an adjustment if this happens.

    Good luck,
