tingling in legs from tmj?

Hi I am new to this board. I have had TMJ for about 4 years now. I went to an orthodontist who made me a splint to wear at night. That helped until about 2 months ago. My dermatoligist gave me minocycline and it made me dizzy and lightheaded, since then my jaw has started popping and crackling again. I have headaches in various parts of my head. Neck and shoulder pain. Swollen lymp nodes in my neck. Ringing in my ears. Tingling and pain in my arms, back and legs. I also have moments of dizziness. Also eye pain. My regular doctor is sending me to a neurologist to check for ms, needless to say this is very frightening. Does anyone else have these same symptoms from TMJ. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Hi! I had Ms for 13 years and TMJ for 3 months. I would have facial numbness and ear problems and fogging head and occassionally problems with talking with the MS. I also get numbness and tingling in my legs. With my TmJ I have the joint area pain and muscle spasms in my face and neck. So I'm not sure whats what anymore! It doesn't hurt to rule everything else out tho. Good Luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am going June 7 for TENS treatment and to be fitted for a new splint. I am going June 21 to the neurologist. Hoping everything turns out okay.

I have to say that I have never heard of this with TMJ. It isn't uncommon to have neck and upper back problems with TMJ. It sounds like going to the neurologist, just to have things checked out, is a good thing to do.

I have the same symptoms and am also going to see a 2nd neurologist in a few weeks. The 1st neuro did not find anything other than several lesions on the brain which were not significant. I have cranio/facial and neck pain, tingling of the face, hands and feet, muscle twitching on the back of my calves, eye pain, dizziness, ringing in the ears....I could go on and on. I have been suffering for 1 1/2 years with this and keep bouncing between different tmj and now neuro specialists to no avail. Are you able to work? I haven't been able to work because of the pain and because I can't keep focused more than 10 minutes at a time without jumping up and pacing around like a lunatic.

I am a stay at home mother but so far I have been able to do everything that I have always done. I do seem to get tired sooner.

Hello,

Don't worry about all your symptoms! It seems like the more we worry the more our symptoms worsen. Some of your symptoms could be from anxiety. So go to the Doctors and explain your symptoms - and if they don't find anything wrong - Be Happy!

It is weird - a lot of symptoms mimic many disorders. I guess I was lucky with the ms diagnosis. I had problems walking and writing. My speech at some times would be slurred and I'd have numbness in the face, and my Mri and spinal tap were positive for ms. This is throughtout the years. I have a lot of numbness and tingling in my legs from the ms and problems walking any distance. I never had a lot of pain with MS. The tmj is different , ear humming and pain in joint area and facial pain and neck pain. I know the difference of what is ms and what is the tmj. I guess I'm lucky that way.
