Jaw shift and bone loss

Hi All,

I have been recently diagnosed with shifted lower jaw.

Several of my teeth have been loose due to bone loss. There is no infection in my mouth and my gums are pink and firm. Regular dentist contributed this to genetics. When I went and saw a holistic dentist, he said my lower jaw has been shifted to right. He did not say this is the reason for bone loss but he suggested an appliance to correct jaw shift. It is too expensive (1200 dollars) for me ( my insurace does not cover). I am still thinking about it. Has any one used any appliance for jaw shift?

Also, did any one experience bone loss due to this shift and consequent clenching of teeth in the night?

Re: Jaw shift and bone loss

Before I had my TMJ Concepts put in, I had lost about 87% of the bone on the left side of my face and my right side was around 47%. I had also been having an "issue" with synovial cyst developing on my bone then growing so that they either crushed or broke my bone. I had a rib graft reconstruction and my body "reabsorbed" all of the bone and left the screw’s floating in my head. I have not had a cyst in almost over a year and I am still losing bone so that now my implant is shifting. My bone and tissue have been sent all over and no one can come up with an explanation as to why the synovial cysts appear and why I am losing my bone. I have just decided it is another "issue" I have to deal with having TMJ.
