what pain relaxants is everyone using?

I had a previous post where I take Ambien everyother day and have a headache the days I do not take the Ambien. I told my TMJ dentist about this and it really seemed like he did not want to "step on the toes" of my primary doctor who prescribes my Ambien. It seems that my clenching and grinding is bad the nights I am not on Ambien and he said to ask my primary doctor for the Ambien every night. I am hesitant to do this because of my getting dependant on it and was wondering if I could suggest a few perscriptions to my primary doctor of muscle relaxants I could use at night. (I am anticipating my primary doctor not wanting to prescribe anything because he is not treating my TMJ) Does anyone have any suggestions of what works for them. Thanks!
p.s. I meant to say on my title, what muscle relaxants is everyone using, not pain relaxants.

I take a Flexeril and a low dose Xanax before bed. Between those and Acupuncture, I rarely have a headache anymore. Hope that helps.

Hi, I'm new to the board and just read your posting. I have been on a combination of methods and this is what works for me. I take a small dose of Valium during the day to decrease the clenching in my jaw. At night I wear a nightguard on my front, top teeth that prevents cleching & grinding. I also take 5mg of Cyclobenzaprine an hour before bed, which has helped a lot. In addition to those things, I also see a physical therapist every 3 weeks.

    Hope this helps you!!!
