Unhappy Tmj help! I am really freaking out!

Where do I begin? I have been experiencing tmj problems for 2 years now I am pretty sure. It started out that I had an overbite and I got a palete spreader from my orthodontist. Next I got braces which straightened my teeth. Then I got a retainer and I stopped wearing it because I thought I would be ok. That was the worst mistake of my life! Now my jaw isn't aligned properly and I have an overbite. I experience clicking on the right side of my jaw whenever I open my mouth. I also just got this thing where my ears feel like I am going into a higher elevation in both ears and I can't seem to pop them. Please help me figure out what to do. Also I am only 14! How do I tell my parents about this!!!!! Also would getting braces or getting a bite plate help? I read that once my jaw is fixed my ear problem will go away? Is that true! Help! Thanks.

Ps whenever I pull open my ears my hearing is normal but wehn I close it, it is muffled again!

Hi Lollipops----Sorry to hear all the problems you are having...You definitely need to tell your parents what is going on. This jaw thing is nothing to sweep under the rug....YOu need to get checked out by a tmj specialist, not your orthodontist, unless he does neuromuscular tmj treatment with Functional Jaw ORthodontics. These are the guys in my opinion that are good. Since you are so young, if you get with the right specialist, you should not have a hard time overcoming these symptoms. Look on the top of this page at the great tmj doctors sticky post.....see if anyone is near you.....
