TMJ patient, no vertical dimension, miserable

Please help me. I got invisalign braces to correct an edge to edge bite and my dentist made everything worse. Not only was the edge to edge bite not corrected, he left me with an open bite on both sides and worst of all, my bottom teeth feel too tall in my mouth. I don't have any freeway space, or vertical dimension. I can't even kiss anymore. My top and bottom teeth feel too long, and when I try to kiss, my tongue can't fit through.

My question is, how can I regain vertical dimension? I'm in tradtional braces now and the edge to edge bite is fixed. How do we open up my bite again? My ortho wants to intrude my teeth by using TADs. Does that sound like it would work? Please help me.

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. If I were you, I would definitely find at least one well reputed, highly recommended modern NM dentist and get a second opinion. I would travel if necessary... Based on what you are saying, I don't think the ortho who put you in this situation can be trusted to fix it. TMJ isn't something to mess around with - you need someone who really knows their stuff inside and out.

If you are feeling too unwell to do this research or drive you to get second opinions, don't feel shy to ask family or close friends for help.

It may cost a little bit more time or money or effort to fix the situation - but your health is worth it! It's everything.

Good luck and let us know how you make out!
