Unhappy Tmj Help, new diagnosis specialist wasn't much help

Hello, I was diagnosed with TMJ 2 days ago and the specialist wasn't much help and gave me no information if my jaw disorder making me feel the way I do or should I go back to my GP???

7 months of symptoms are :

    light sensitivity
    pain behind eyes
    unable to focus
    scatty vision
    weakness and fatigue
    lightheaded drunk heavy head feeling
    disorientation
    unable to think straight
    sensory and balance problems
    throat feels tight
    muffled hearing loss
    throbbing head and face
    constant headache
    internally shaky feeling

    Neck shoulder pain
cotton wool/numb feeling in mouth and jaw
    tight chest

I was recently also diagnosed with dissociation disorder (which I believe is caused by the TMJ)??

the maxillofacalist I saw at southampton general hospital. basically said to me go get your teeth fixed and braces and I can give you treatment, He also said the symptoms weren't his field and that he suspects M.E? but after reaserch on TMJ I believe i HAVE SIMILIR SYMPTOMS!!! honestly this guy was useless.

which I can understand as I have never seen a dentist in my life and I ALSO had bulimia for 2 years you can imagine the state of my teeth.
I am also awaiting on MRI results .

is this just TMJ or could there possibly be another diagnosis to be sought?

These don't sound like primary TMJ symptoms to me. I don't know what dissacotiona disorder is and have never heard it in connection with TMJ - is it a psychiatric diagnosis?

I would first start with a general check up with your regular GP (If you have one) - get bloodwork; urine sample; ekg of your heart; and then I would suggest seeing a neurologist about your symptoms before proceeding any further with orthodentics to treat these symptoms. I would also get a second opinion before starting any TMJ treatment plan if it is decided that your symptoms are caused by TMJ.

Lastly, I hope you are getting treatment for your bulimia.

Hello, I have done all of which you have stated to no prevail, I've had blood work an EKG, and an MRI all of which are clear, seen a neurologist and maxillofacial surgeon. at a dead end. got dates for oral surgery on my teeth and some fillings before I can start my othedontic treatment and jaw treatment, I'm hoping this is all TMJ because everything else is clear and doctors don't know what else to do.
