Re: Pudendal Neuralgia

I have suffered with Pudendal Neuralgia since 2001 because my boyfriend at the time decided to use my butt as a mop as he dragged me from the driveway to the bedroom by my hair. But only got diagnosed in April of 2008. This is because not too many doctors know about PN let alone how to treat it. Everytime I went to the hospital or the doctor, they just pushed me away thinking I was a junkie. Only after my Fiancee looked up "taint" pain did he find PN. We printed it up and my doctor did a pelvic exam. Once he slightly touched my left side, I jumped screaming and crying. He knew right then PN was the cause and ever since I have been seeing my neurologist every month.

My symptoms right now are:
Pain on left side of body with the feeling that the pain is in the bone
Late periods
Pain bowel movements
Sometimes I have numbness on my vagina in some places
Painful urination
Painful sex
Sometimes it hurts in my tailbone
Hurts when I sit in a lot of chairs
When the pain gets really bad, I can't move

This is a condition that can destroy even the strongest person. You will have to be your own doctor. Do research....I have searched and searched and the only thing close to clinical trials or ANYTHING was a clinical trial someone did in 1963 and they determined that PN is caused by people sitting on the toilet to have a bowel movement and straining. People should squat so they will have perfect posture. I thought ***! * Disallowed website removed by hb-mod, moderator *

MY neurologist has me taking medications from Neurontin to Lamactil (a bipolar medication that also works for nerve pain). It is also good to take an antidepressant. Unfortunately, this can take a toll on relationships. Can't really blame it because who would sit around and watch the person they love in so much pain that they can't get out of bed and the medications don't even work. Having to deal with constant doctors visit with no improvement, seeing their loved one depressed and not eating.

All I am saying is that this is a hard condition to have. It is great to have a support system and other people who know what you are going through to talk to whenever you need them. Feel free to contact me.
