Optimal weight for TTC????

Can weight affect fertility? I'm 28 y.o., 5'5" and 110 lbs (lost 20 in last half a year). I wonder if I should gain some weight to help me conceive or am I within normal weight range (TTC-wise)? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Optimal weight for TTC????

I have heard being overweight or underweight can affect your AF being regular or if you even ovulate. I am overweight not like I was about 7 mos ago but I found out once I lost some weight my AF would regulate out which it did and I got pg 3 mos after it did, sadly it ended in m.c.

Re: Optimal weight for TTC????

Check your BMI (lots of different calculators on the internet). If your within the "normal" range, your chances are better. I've also read if your BMI is 20-25%, that's the best for TTC. I am also thin, my BMI right now is 18.2%. I've actually always been thin, actually hated it my whole life (always felt freakish), never been able to gain weight until I went off the pill this year. Not sure if it's me off the hormones, or my metabolism finally slowing (I'm 30), but whatever. I've actually gained weight (about 10 pounds), and I feel great, hope to keep going, but my cycles are still weird unfortunately, no change yet. I hope to make it to 20% BMI at least, see if it helps. You might want to try that. Were your cycles regular before you lost weight? If so, you might really benefit from a little extra weight.
