Vitex and Ammenhorrea

First of all, hi everyone I'm new here.

My partner and I have been TTC our first since mid-July. I went of the pill at the end of May and have been experiencing post-pill ammenorrhea since.

I had quite long (two monthly) cycles as a teenager, and experienced about 6 months of ammenorrhea in 2010 while on the pill, where I was diagnosed with cystic ovaries (but not specifically PCOS) and changed to a lower dose contraceptive.

I had blood tests and an ultrasound on coming off the pill in May, and my hormone levels seem normal and the ultrasound showed that the cysts seem to have dissapeared.

I am drinking raspeberry leaf tea and taking folic acid. I started taking Vitex (3x50mg tablets initially, and now instead 1g liquid capsule) about a month ago in September and now have my first light AF in months! However, I'm unsure if I actually ovulated. I attempted taking by temperature and found no pattern, and have yet to try any other methods, but haven't really noticed a change in CM .

I have an appointment with a PCOS/fertility specialist next month in November. I'm hoping that the vitex will be enough to help me ovulate regularly but will see what the Dr says - how many months did you all attempt vitex before moving on to Clomid etc?

Added note: I am a healthy low weight (BMi 17.5-18), I do light exercise of walking, yoga or pilates everyday and eat a balanced vegetarian diet. I've never smoked or done drugs and only have 1-2 drinks on rare occasions.

Re: Vitex and Ammenhorrea

You might have to stay on vitex for a while ( 6 mo), but it is worth it--as it has solved the ammenhorrea. Natural medicine usually works slow and in the "background". We had good results also.
